I tried many tasty seafood dishes in Chile. Chile is a country with a very long coastline. It is not surprising that Chilean seafood is fresh and tasty.
Here is a list of tasty seafood dishes in Chile that I have tried.
Seafood Empanadas: This dumpling looking baked or fried pastry is stuffed with cheese and seafood.
Seafood soup: This is one of my favorites. There are all kinds of seafood in this soup, including giant and meaty scallops, shrimp, claims, oysters, octopus, and different fish.
Abalone: Abalone is usually served with Chilean mayonnaise. I like it just as is!
Hake: Hake is very popular and commonly found on the menu.
Fried Mixed Seafood: Nothing can go wrong with fried seafood!
Chilean King Crab: King Crab is very sweet and tasty! It is fun to watch it being served too!
Chilean King Crab Alfredo: Yum!
Roast Octopus: This dish is served with avocado and olive purée.
Rockfish Rollizo: This tasty Chilean rockfish is a must try!
Parmesan Seafood in a bowl or on Machas Shells: I love these parmesan cheese and butter covered seafood!
Seafood (only or with meat) Pil-Pil: Pil-Pil is a dish with flavorful sauce, made out of olive oil, garlic, and other ingredients.
Seafood Sampler: A seafood sampler is always a good choice if you don’t know where to start.
Ceviche: A common way to serve uncooked fish in Chile is minced in lemon juice. It is not really my taste, but still nice to try!
Piure (☠️ WARNING! Piure tastes like bad-tasting tap water): I have to especially mention piure because it is unique. I love seafood, but this is one of a few that I really don’t like. Piure is in a dark red color and with a very strong distinct flavor. It is commonly served with diced onion, coriander and lemon. I cannot recommend piure alone unless you want to try how it tastes like.
