We took a river cruise on the Vltava River in Prague one summer evening.
While standing on the bridges across the Vltava River, I have noticed many river cruises. After a few days of watching, we finally decided to take an evening dinner river cruise on the Vltava River in Prague with a company called Prague Boats.
The cruise route was to pass 7 bridges on the Vltava River and it lasted 3 hours. The starting port was located at the north of the Prague Old Town Square, across the street from the Intercontinental Hotel.
The port area was a wide stone paved walkway. Many people walked by or biked by. There were several boats docked by the river close to the Prague Boats office. There was a small cafe right next to the Prague Boats office. I also saw some swans enjoying themselves by the river bank. I kept walking up and down the river bank wondering which boat would be ours.
Finally, it was our time to board. There were two decks on our boat. The dinner was served on the lower deck, which was also covered and air conditioned. The dinner was a buffet. After dinner, we moved to the upper-level open-air deck to enjoy the view of Prague from the Vltava River. There were many people out and about to enjoy the beautiful summer evening along the Vltava River as well.
We periodically passed other river cruises, party boats, and fishing boats. Suddenly, I spotted a critter swimming in the river! I think it was a river otter who was also enjoying his summer evening in the Vltava River.
From a distance, I saw trains and street trams rolling by, beautiful buildings on river banks, and impressive geographic formations.ย
The boat approached a beautiful building on the hill by a tunnel, Saint Peter and Paul Basilica. From the boat, I also saw the wall of Vysehrad Castle (Fortress). Some people sat on the hill by the wall to enjoy the view. A person also had his camera set up there. It must be a good spot for photos. I will plan to visit the Vysehrad Castle next time in Prague.
Our return journey passed a lock of Vltava River. It took a while for the boat to pass through the lock. When we entered the lock, the sky was still bright. By the time we passed through the lock, the sky had darkened already.
Prague after dark was still lively. There were lights everywhere on the buildings and on the streets.ย
When we got back to the cruise port, it was about 10pm. It was a very peaceful river cruise on the Vltava River in Prague. What a great way to see Prague by boat. Good night, Prague!
