In this article, I will talk about my thoughts on Fire Emblem Blue Lions. This is a continuation of my previous article, My Thoughts on Fire Emblem Black Eagles.
Ah, the Blue Lions. Honestly, the whole group seems to have a lot of problems and tends to be the typical brave and wholesome knights of the three groups.
I noticed that before the time skip, many of the emenies are related to the Blue Lions. For example, Ashe’s adoptive father, Lord Lonato, rebels against the church and Sylvain’s older brother steals a relic and turns into a beast.
I will not get in to the stories in this article. I will only talk about the characters.
Here is my drawings of the Blue Lions pre-timeskip.
Here is my drawing of the Blue Lions post-timeskip.
From left to right: Annette, Ashe, Dedue, Dimitri, Felix, Sylvain, Ingrid, and Mercedes
Dimitri is the house leader of the Blue Lions. He was the typical goody-two-shoes prince, until the timeskip. His support conversations, for the most part, were always really fluffy and cute (they make you go “aww”). However, after the timeskip, Dimitri has changed. he was unavailable to do any of the activities or to have any supports. Not until you make him realize he needs to step up otherwise everyone will die.
Dimitri’s bodyguard is a dude named Dedue. Like Hubert and Edelgard, Dedue is completely devoted to Dimitri and you can’t recruit him if you chose a different house. I really liked Dedue because he was really nice and had cute conversations with Ashe and Annette. After the timeskip he did not meet up with the rest of the house because he helped Dimitri to escape imprisonment. He was presumed dead until he appeared later. I was really happy to know he was still alive.
Felix is a childhood friend of Dimitri, Sylvain, and Ingrid. He is a cold hearted knight who is obsessed with training. One thing I found funny about Felix is his flighting movements as a gremory. The jumping movement is just not like what you would imagine someone like him doing. His support conversations are mostly either ‘Why are you talking to me?’ or ‘Go away’.
Sylvain is a knight who thinks he is popular among girls but is acutally not great in battles (for the first few chapters a least). He is not so concerned about being a noble as much as Ferdinand and Lorenz are. His conversation with Lorenz is about them arguing over who is more popular among ladies. I was shaking my head the entire time during the conversation.
Out of Dimitri, Felix, Sylvain, and Ingrid, Ingrid is the one keeping everyone in order. She seems like the usual knight who always keeps her friends in line. That is my impression of her all the time.
Mercedes is like a mother figure. She is very calm and supportive to all of the house members. Her healing skills in battle are very useful. She also has a skill that heals herself whenever she heals others. This is a very useful skill. Her support conversaion with Dimitri is hilarious. She teaches Dimitri how to sew but Dimitri breaks the needles and scissors instead.
At first glance, I thought Ashe is an archer, and low and behold, he is. He is a lot like Mercedes, being calm and supportive to everyone. His conversations are usually about interests he shares with others. He is my super archer who can shoot really far away. I really like his super overpowered bow skill.
Annette is a clumsy book worm of the house. Her magic is great, but she is not good at anything else. She makes dusting the shelves harder for Mr. Hanemen. She also burns the food she is cooking. Her support conversations with Ashe made me smile, and her support converaions with Felix made me laugh.
I like all the Blue Lions in different ways. Who is your favorite Blue Lions member?
